I am a Florida farm girl turned Minnesota winter lover. I love roaming in the woods and water around Duluth with my four children and reading the classics aloud to them during our homeschool day. After the birth of my own children, I became fascinated by the process of birth and matrescence. With a BS in family life and human development, I saw the need to help create a loving and supported start to family life so that a loving attachment can be nurtured. Being a part of creating this healthy foundation for life is what drove me to train as a doula with DONA and become a certified breastfeeding specialist through Lactation Education Resources.
Education on birth, postpartum and breastfeeding is vital to meeting your goals and I endeavor to help families get the education they need either through personalized sessions, group classes or community groups. My experiences as a WIC peer breastfeeding counselor helped shape how I view the systems that help young families and those that hinder them. I now enjoy giving presentations on the public health impacts of breastfeeding to local high school students. As a postpartum doula, I aim to give the care families want and need so they can focus on creating loving relationships. Having given birth in the hospital twice and and twice at home, I am comfortable giving loving support in either setting. I care for each family with perceptive care and guidance so they can make their own informed birth and postpartum decisions.
